When someone has a serious alcohol use disorder, they can receive help in an addiction treatment center. Alcohol rehab centers provide the structure and support that people need to overcome their alcoholism and reclaim their lives. Alcohol rehab programs typically offer detoxification, individual and group therapy, behavioral modification, education about alcoholism and recovery, family counseling, and more. Alcoholism can lead to problems in personal relationships, work, and school. It also leads to health concerns, including heart disease and liver damage.

Most rehab programs start with a meeting between the person and an admissions staff member. The goal of this meeting is to get a better understanding of the person’s situation and to create a customized plan for their time in rehab. They will be taught coping skills that they can use when confronted with difficult situations in their daily lives. They will also learn how to handle triggers, such as stress or conflict with others, without turning to alcohol.
